This week we found one of the northern pride lionesses on a kudu kill. Her sisters were away mating with two young males so we know she brought it down on her own – quite a feat!
By the afternoon she was lying near the kill with a full belly and more than half of the kudu meat was left. That night there were lion calling and the next morning the two young males were seen on the kill. By that afternoon we followed one of the males as he walked a short distance then collapsed again, his belly too full to go any further.
The other male was meanwhile off mating with the lioness from the kill. Which all goes to prove that the way to a man’s heart is through his stomach!
