KwaMbili is located in the subtropical climate zone known as the Lowveld, where summer temperatures can climb above 40 degrees Celsius. Rainfall in the Lowveld averages 800mm per annum, and falls mainly during the summer months, which results in humid, sultry weather.
The rainy season usually starts in November and lasts until March but rain can be expected from September right until May.
The climate is less hot in the dry winter months of June, July and August. Then the days are mild and the nights cool, sometimes cold. This time of the year is ideal for game viewing because the shrubs and trees dont have so many leaves to obstruct the view. Since it hardly ever rains in winter, the game must come to the waterholes to drink and can more easily be observed from the vehicle or the hide.
