Lately we have noticed a new young leopard in the area, not far from the lodge. She has been seen repeatedly and almost always on the same termite mound. This young female is spending more and more time alone away from her mother. This is normal for a leopard reaching the 1-1,5 year mark as the mother slowly pushes her away, spending less and less time with her until she is fully independent. We have high hopes for this little cat – she is doing well and is hunting some rather large prey species for her age.
