Hyena are always a very special animal to view but what also makes them special is the Family of mammals they belong to. They are not part of the cat family, nor the dog family! They are so unique that they have their own family called Hyaenidae – this is one of the smallest families, since there are only four species of Hyena, namely the Spotted Hyena, Brown Hyena, Striped Hyena and the Aardwolf (which is not a wolf but a Hyena). Even though they are a very small family, they have a massive impact on the African ecosystem.
