Summer brings the youngsters

It’s summer now and most of the grazers have given birth to their young. They usually time their births for the early summer when food is plentiful so that the mother’s milk has enough nutrition and the young are encouraged to learn to start eating grass as soon as possible – the youngsters get much needed nutrients from the grass. And with young animals comes curiosity, like this young zebra which was highly interested in us as we watched it run about round its mother.
