Life around camp

With the lodge closed during the corona lockdown there is much less human activity and we are experiencing an increase in animal sightings inside the camp. From kudu to leopard sightings, it may seem that KwaMbili is not only a favourite among guests but among animals as well. We were fortunate enough to get a quick snap of this Genet in the roof of our lapa area. Genets are very cat-like yet closely related to the civet. They are predominantly nocturnal and are active from an hour or two after sunset until about two o’clock in the morning. They are mostly solitary but have also been spotted in family groups or pairs.
