Christmas in the bush

Hope you all had as good a Christmas as we did! On Christmas Eve we found (or rather first smelt and then, after investigating, found!) a male leopard feeding on a young wildebeest (gnu) carcass. The guests were also treated to a sighting of all three lionesses from the northern pride together with their cubs. Christmas Day was cooler than the days before. Ranger Albert got into the spirit of the occasion and wore a traditional red and white Santa Claus hat. The morning brought sightings of a herd of elephant and buffalo and in the afternoon a female leopard on a kill – but no lion. Then back at camp after Christmas dinner we were treated to a concert of lions roaring right near camp – we may not have found them but they certainly found us! It just underlined what a different sort of Christmas it was for our guests from Europe.
