There is a unique story about the Blue Wildebeest told in many African cultures over many generations and it goes like this: After the gods created all the animals they realized that they had made too many spare parts of certain animals. Left over they had the stripes of zebra, bodies of hyena and heads of buffalo. The gods decided that they wouldn’t let anything go to waste so they put all these parts together and created something special… the Blue Wildebeest. When you look at this animal you can clearly see the similarities with these other animals – the stripes on its side, the slope of its back, and its large buffalo-like horns.
