Twin Spots has had twins!

Date Posted: 2014-03-10

This last week has seen heavier than expected rainfall. Fortunately Thornybush was spared the worst of it, unlike the southern part of Kruger. But we did have to cope with really muddy tracks and several game viewing vehicles got stuck and then pulled out with mud flying, all much to the amusement of the guests on board. We continue having great elephant sightings and the buffalo have made good use of the muddy pools left after the rain for wallowing.

Lately we have not being seeing Twin Spots, the female leopard in whose territory KwaMbili lies. But the mystery of her whereabouts has now been solved - she was observed in thick bush with two young cubs. Similarly, the female cheetah we used to see also disappeared and now she too has been found with cubs. And we discovered a hyena den last week with very young cubs. All the cubs are too young to have visitors but we hope for good viewing over the coming months.
